Math

Our math program is designed to meet the individual needs of our students and increase their commitment by allowing students to participate in setting their goals. Short and long-term realistic goals help students increase confidence and change the way they approach the subject.

Students practice skills using a wide range of materials such as textbooks, workbooks, manipulatives, and word problems to facilitate the transfer of skills between settings such as the classroom and home.

By working to reduce “math anxiety” we can change the way your child approaches their mathematics courses and ensure that they never find themselves paralyzed by the fear of math problems again.

Reading

Reading is the gateway to academic success. Children who do not read efficiently experience difficulties in all subject areas. This inevitably gives rise to a negative attitude toward school and poor self-esteem. These very same children need individual educational plans that build on their strengths. Our mission is to develop readers who read for pleasure and information in order to achieve academic success and become independent lifetime learners.

Our goal is to prevent reading difficulties in young children before reading instruction begins.  For older children, our goal is to overcome reading difficulties before they experience reading failure, develop poor academic self-esteem, and begin to lack of motivation. For children who suffer from these our goal is to develop the willingness to persist despite difficulties, allowing them become independent lifetime learners.

REACH Educational Center provides after-school and summer reading programs that are explicit, systematic, sequential, active, and engaging with frequent opportunities to practice literacy skills in meaningful contexts.

Language Arts

As we transition into more rigorous expectations for English/Language Arts, our teachers are prepared to incorporate the most up-to-date strategies to aid students in becoming independent, life-long readers and critical thinkers.

Our rigorous programs focus on the five strands of English/Language Arts: reading, writing, speaking, listening, and viewing. Our teachers are trained to incorporate motivational creativity into their lessons with the use of curriculum maps.

By providing students with opportunities to not only improve their reading comprehension, but to also learn consistent critical thinking, we are preparing students to stay one step ahead of their peers in the classroom.

Study Skills

Unfortunately, many students fail to achieve their academic potential because they have never learned the basic study skills necessary for success. Fortunately, at REACH Educational Center, we teach students to work smarter, not harder. By working with students to develop better concentration, focus, and attention span we will help them to feel better about themselves as learners and be more motivated to succeed.

Practice doesn’t make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect.
